A Year-End Close to Celebrate Every Small, Great Achievement.

At Koala ABA, we celebrate every family moment this December!

Dear Families,

December is here, filling the air with celebratory lights, joy, and the holiday spirit. Without a doubt, this month invites us to pause, reflect on all the work and achievements we’ve had… but also to celebrate!

At Koala ABA & Learning Centers, we know the holidays are a wonderful time. However, changes in routine demand greater emotional support for your child. For this reason, we invite you to view December as a great opportunity to connect and reinforce the learnings achieved throughout the year.

Our commitment continues to be to accompany you on this path of progress. Thank you for trusting our team!

May this be a month full of joy and cherished moments for your child!

ABA Tip of the Month: Maintaining Routines During Christmas Break

Although the holiday season is a time of joy, it also brings changes in schedules, loud noises, and family visits. For many children with autism, these changes can lead to sensory overload, anxiety, or emotional dysregulation.

Here are some practical strategies to achieve stability and calm at home during the holidays:

  • Utilize visual calendars or checklists to anticipate events, visits, or changes in schedule.
  • Maintain consistent schedules for sleep, meals, and quiet time, even if the day is filled with social activities.
  • Offer scheduled sensory breaks in a quiet corner during family gatherings.

By maintaining predictable habits, you help your child feel safe during these celebrations. Learn more about our ABA Therapy here!

Celebrating Trust and Looking to the Next Year.

You already know: for Koala ABA, your family is the most valuable part of our community. We want to end the year with an affirmation that summarizes our philosophy of support. Our advice is simple: remember that progress is measured by constant effort and your child’s well-being.

“The true celebration is the one that adapts to your child’s needs, not the other way around.”

Thank you for allowing us to have been your guides on this beautiful path of growth throughout this year.

Be ready, because 2026 will be full of new goals and achievements!

Happy Holidays and a December full of peace!

Christmas Sensory Activity at Home: The "Magic Snow" Jar.

For these holidays, we suggest this simple sensory activity: it’s safe, perfect for encouraging emotional regulation during moments of overload or transition, and a visual self-regulation tool that you can easily create with your child.

Here are the key elements to create your calm-down jar:

  • Therapeutic Goal: Calmness, visual focus, and practicing slow breathing.
  • Essential Materials: Water, glue, glitter, foam beads or mini white pom-poms, and a plastic jar with a secure lid.
  • Key Instructions: Mix the ingredients in the jar. Ask your child to shake it and observe the “snow” falling slowly, accompanying the process with slow breaths.

Use the “Magic Snow” Jar as a tool for calm this holiday season! Discover more about Emotional Regulation here!

Special Recommendation for Therapeutic Christmas Toys.

When looking for a gift for your child this Christmas, we invite you to consider options that not only entertain them but also directly support the development of their social skills. At Koala ABA, we have created this list for you, with examples of wonderful functional gifts:

  • For Social Games and Turn-Taking: Simple, short-duration board games, such as blocks, visual themed bingo, or magnetic fishing.
  • For Fine Motor Skills: Playdough or sensory clay, large tongs for transferring objects, or large beads for stringing.
  • For Sensory Regulation: Light weighted blankets, soft sensory brushes, or anti-stress balls with different textures.
