Piero was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) at the age of two and a half. His parents decided to seek a diagnosis when they noticed some concerning behaviors: Piero refused to eat, subsisting only on milk, and didn’t want to wear a jacket even in 30-degree weather. The diagnosis was a difficult moment for his parents, who had never imagined or considered this possibility.

With the support and resources available, things began to improve. Upon receiving the diagnosis, Piero’s parents immediately started searching for therapy options. Despite knowing very little about ASD, they diligently researched and reached out to professionals to understand more about the condition and what Piero’s future might hold. Their primary goal was for Piero to become independent and capable of managing day-to-day tasks. They didn’t concern themselves with whether he would become a doctor, lawyer, or engineer; they just wanted him to be happy and self-sufficient.

Piero’s mom often wondered about his future, worrying about what would happen as he grew older. Now that Piero is grown, she feels reassured and confident that he will be okay.
